CM's dream project 'Bhorer Alo' to get inaugurated before Durga Puja

Darjeeling: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's dream project "Bhorer Alo" is all set to see the light of day before Durga Puja. Located at Gajoldoba in the Jalpaiguri district, the project is dubbed as India's largest integrated tourism location.

"Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be inaugurating the project before Durga Puja. It is her dream project," stated Gautam Deb, Tourism minister. Though the Minister did not divulge a date, word doing the round is that the Chief Minister might inaugurate the project on October 3.

The project spread across a sprawling area of 208-acre has different components.

"We are floating tenders for some components including a budget hotel; 2 Star category hotels and high end hotel. Along with this, tender will be floated for a 9 hole golf course spread on a plot of 60-acre," stated Minister Deb.

"Bhorer Alo" will boast of cycling, boating and camping facilities. It will also have a trekking route through Saraswati Tea Estate to Bengal Safari. Work is on by the Forest department for developing the route.

The minister stated that around 30,000 saplings have been planted in the area and the target is to plant 70,000 more.

A state Institute of Hotel Management "Arohon" will also be coming up at Gajoldoba.

The Institute will offer 3 years course; 13 months short course; 6 week long industrial training. A similar institute is already running in Durgapur.

"Bhorer Alo" will also boast of a home for the elderly; a police station and a health care centre.

"We held a review meeting at Gajoldoba on Friday with different departments. A flyover is coming up connecting Gajoldoba with Lataguri.

Work on a new road from Gajoldoba via Bodagunj to Odlabari will start soon. The pumping house is being constructed at a cost of Rs 15 crore.
