CM to hold sessions to pick future leaders of Trinamool
Kolkata: For the first time since the inception of the party on January 1, 1998, over two decades ago, party supremo Mamata Banerjee will hold a two-day interactive session to pick out the future leaders of the party.
The interactive sessions will be held on November 14 and 15 at Netaji Indoor stadium, announced Banerjee while addressing the Trinamool Congress Chatra Parishad Rally at Mayo Road on Wednesday afternoon.
Banerjee has set up a core committee comprising senior leaders of the party including Trinamool Youth Congress president Abhishek Banerjee, Secretary General Partha Chatterjee, state president Subrata Bakshi, ministers Subrata Mukerjee, Firhad Hakim and Moloy Ghatak and MMiC Baiswanor Chattopadhyay, to build contacts with the students.
The students will be asked to fill out forms giving details of their names, residential address, names of the educational institutions and aptitude for politics. Banerjee will do the screening and then pick out the students who will be groomed as future leaders.
Giving stress on new leadership, the Trinamool supremo encouraged the students to protest against the communal and divisive politics of BJP. She also asked them to be active on social media and protest against the fake news being circulated by the saffron party.
"I will talk to them and will groom them to become future leaders," she said. It may be mentioned that Banerjee had joined politics in student life and was an active member of the Chatra Parishad of Congress. She has always asked students to join politics as it gives them an opportunity to serve people.
