Class XII girl sexually abused by uncle

Kolkata: A girl was sexually abused by her own uncle in Regent Park area in South Kolkata on Thursday night.

Police have arrested the person, who is originally a resident of Bangladesh, and had come to South Kolkata to visit his relatives' residence. According to police sources, the victim, who is a student of class XII, was alone in the house when her uncle entered into her room on the pretext of having a glass of water.

He bolted the door from inside immediately after entering the house and sexually abused her. He also threatened the victim of dire consequences if she spoke to anybody about the incident and left the house.

When the girl's mother returned home and found the room in a rummaged condition, the former narrated her what had happened. A complaint was lodged immediately with the Regent Park police station and the police managed to arrest the victim's uncle. Police have already recorded the statement of the victim and conducted the medical examination of the victim. "We have initiated a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act," an investigating officer said.
