Partha Chatterjee, state Education minister, on Wednesday said a probe will be conducted into the allegation against the teacher-in-charge of Rajendra Siksha Sadan Primary School after it was reported that she had beaten up two Class II students last week.
Chatterjee said till the probe is completed, the teacher-in-charge will not be allowed to join school. The police had arrested Dipsikha Ghosh, teacher-in-charge for allegedly beating up the students. She was later granted bail.
Ghosh allegedly beat up two girl students of Class II on August 4. She had reportedly tied their hands, put handkerchiefs in their mouth and beat them up. She also told the victims not to complain to their parents.
The girls went back to their homes and narrated the incident to their parents. They said the teacher had asked them to clean a table.
The victims refused as some senior students had kept used plates and soiled papers on the table. On being refused, the teacher beat them up.
The parents of the victims could not meet her as the school was closed on Saturday and Sunday. On Monday, when they came, Ghosh refused to meet them.
The guardians went to Jadavpur police station and lodged a complaint. On Wednesday morning, the parents demonstrated outside the school and later gheraoed the teacher-in-charge. Cops from Jadavpur arrived at the spot and brought the situation under control.
