Clash breaks out between groups at Basanti

A clash broke out between two groups of miscreants at Basanti in South 24 Parganas on Wednesday. There had been trouble at Kheria village in Basanti since late last night between two groups that led to palpable panic among the villagers. Initially, house of one Abdul Mannan Gazi was attacked which led to subsequent clashes between the groups. A large contingent of police was pressed to bring the situation under control. There were reports of fresh trouble on Wednesday morning and additional force was deployed to avoid further deterioration of the law and order situation. It may be recalled that there was tension at Kheria and its adjacent villages a few days ago. Senior police officers had intervened and brought the situation under control. All measures have been taken so that no further tension takes place in the area. Our Correspondent
