Civic volunteer in Nadia kills father for property
Kolkata: A civic volunteer in Nadia stabbed his father to death over a dispute related to property on Monday morning.
The deceased person has been identified as Rabindranath Saha (64).
Police have arrested his son Sukanta Saha.
According to sources, Rabindranath lived with his son and other family members at Paschimpara, Kaligunj, in Nadia. Since past few years, the relation between Rabindranath and Sukanta turned sour due to disagreements between the them over issues related to property.
It is alleged that Sukanta had been forcing his father to give his property to him, but Rabindranath allegedly did not agree to give his property to his son.
Sukanta, who is married, allegedly had an extra marital relationship sometime ago. However, his wife and the woman with whom he had a relationship outside his marriage left him a few years ago. It is said they were also disappointed over the dispute between the father and the son.
However, nothing deterred Sukanta from forcing his father to transfer his property to him.
On Monday morning, an altercation broke out between the father and the son again.
Sukanta threatening his father with dire consequences if he did not transfer his property to him.
After almost an hour of altercation, when Rabindranth asked Sukanta to leave his house, he got furious and brought a sharp weapon from his room and started stabbing his father.
Though Rabindranath trying to resist his son, he failed.
Hearing him screaming for help, the neighbours ran to their house and detained Sukanta.
Rabindranath was rushed to Katwa Sub Divisional Hospital where he was declared brought dead by the doctors at the hospital.
Meanwhile, Kaligunj police station was also informed and local residents tied Sukanta up to a post at his home.
Later, the police recovered Rabindranath body and sent it for autopsy. Sukanta was arrested for murdering his father.
