City to witness dry spell till winter tiptoes
Kolkata: The Regional Meteorological Centre in Alipore has officially announced the withdrawal of South-West Monsoon in the state and said the city may witness a dry spell till the winter sets in.
The weather office said the humidity level could be high during the day while the temperature may drop slightly late in the evening. The weather system has witnessed a change in the state since the retreat of Monsoon started a few days back.
"The weather will remain dry in the state in the next 48 hours due to a change in the weather system. There is no possibility of rainfall in the state as of now as the South-West Monsoon has withdrawn from the state. The sky is likely to remain clear in the morning while it could be cloudy in the afternoon. South Bengal and North Bengal will experience comparatively dry weather in next two days," a senior weather official said.
The MeT office said coastal districts may receive one or two spells of scattered rainfall if there is any quick change in the weather system in the state. The temperature in the city may drop by a few notches in the next couple of days. The fluctuating temperature is common during the transition period when Monsoon starts withdrawing from the state.
The MeT office said the highest temperature in the city may hover around 32 degree Celsius in the next couple of days while the lowest temperature may drop to 22 degree Celsius during the night.
There will be dryness in the weather during morning due to relative humidity. The dryness will gradually start disappearing with decrease in temperature.
