CISF jawan found dead beside tracks

Mystery shrouds the death of a CISF jawan whose body was found near the railway tracks at Panskura in East Midnapore on Saturday.

Some local residents spotted the body of Bikash Kumar Dutta (35) near the BDO office on Saturday morning which triggered tension among people. Police are yet to ascertain the exact cause of his death. According to the preliminary investigation, Dutta along with his wife and son went to his in-laws house at Baklasha area of West Midnapore on Friday. He returned home at Narayanda area. The victim on late Friday night again started off for his in-laws house. But this time, he did not reach there. On Saturday, local residents spotted the body with several injury marks on his body. Police are not ruling out the possibility of the victim committing suicide and are not ruling out the possibility of any foulplay behind the incident. The body was sent for post-mortem.

In a separate incident, one Abdul Halim attempted suicide by setting himself ablaze inside a private bank at Suri in Birbhum after he was repeatedly denied loan. He was rushed to a nearby hospital with burn injuries.
