CID probes roles of 'big fish' who aided Juhee to traffick newborns

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) are examining the role of all the influential persons who allegedly backed the prime accused Chandana Chakraborty and the former state secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha Juhee Chowdhury in the alleged trafficking case of Jalpaiguri where children were trafficked to foreign countries.

This comes a day after Chandana held Juhee responsible for all sorts of "illegal" activities in her three houses and claimed that it was the former state secretary of the BJP Mahila Morcha who took her to Delhi, where she had a discussion with BJP MP Roopa Ganguly and the party's national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya.

The discussion was all about to get the necessary clearances to continue running of all the three homes — Bimala Sishu Griho, North Bengal People's Development Committee and Ashroy Short Stay Home.

On Thursday again, Juhee told to media while coming out of court that she "has been framed". According to CID officers, repeated revelations of both Juhee and Chandana state that there were some "bigshots" who had helped the duo to carry on with their "illegal activities".

A senior CID officer said that it is not possible for "small fish" like Juhee and Chandana to traffick children to countries like the US, France, Spain and Singapore without the support of any "bigshot".

All such persons are under the scanner of the CID and the investigating officers are trying to find out that with whom Juhee had a telephonic conversation when she was on run.

The CID officers have also started the assessment to calculate the property of Chandana as it would help the CID to ascertain the money she made by trafficking newborn babies.

Rajesh Kumar, ADG (CID), said: "The probe to find out that who gave support to Juhee and Chandana is going on and CID will take right action at the right time."
