CID nabs drug peddler with 500 gm heroin at Raghunathganj

Kolkata: CID officers nabbed a drug peddler, identified as Mohammad Nurshed Ali alias Bishu, with 500

grams of heroin on Wednesday at Raghunathganj. According to the investigators, he was being used as a carrier. However, the main culprit behind the operation is yet to be located.

Sources informed that the CID officials in North Bengal had been receiving inputs regarding drug peddling since the last few days. Upon probing the matter, investigators came to know that someone was trying to smuggle heroin through Raghunathganj.

On Wednesday, investigators received a tip about Ali. Without wasting any time, CID officials raided Saidapur Bazar at Raghunathganj in the morning and apprehended Ali red-handed. A packet full of heroin weighing about 500 grams was recovered from him.

Ali was brought to the Raghunathganj police station immediately. Later, a specific case was initiated against Ali at the police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
