Chinese drug racket: CID finds out about more persons involved

Kolkata: Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has come to know about more people from the northern p art of the country, who had allegedly extended support to the five Chinese nationals arrested for running a drug smuggling racket.

Sources said the CID officers have recently come to know about these people, who have had close contact with the five arrested

Chinese nationals.

The investigation officers didn't disclose the names and the CID officers didn't reveal much about the places they belong for the sake of investigation.

Investigating officers have come to know that it would not have been possible for the Chinese nationals to run the racket without their help. A team comprising CID officers are working in other states in this connection.

The five Chinese nationals including Wang Zio Dong, Zeu Gong Hue, Chang Heu, Lee Chand and Lue Bouk Seoung were arrested a few weeks ago from Kolkata Station and around 197 kg drug, worth around Rs 39 crore was recovered from them.

The five persons were arrested by the Government Railway Police and the case was later taken up by the CID.

The CID officers had conducted raids in this connection at Naoda in Murshidabad. Subsequently, a team comprising officers of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), US Department of Justice, interrogated the five Chinese nationals. Officers of the Narcotics Control Bureau accompanied the DEA agents during the interrogation.

The CID continued its probe in this connection and came to know that three of the five arrested Chinese nationals had also worked in Gurgaon.

In a bid to get more information in this connection, a team comprising officers of CID went to Gurgaon.

The investigating officers also came to know that one of them used to work for a mobile manufacturing company and another used to work as a cook at some place. Later, they allegedly got involved in the racket of smuggling of drugs that include methamphetamine and amphetamine.
