Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) interrogated Narada News CEO Mathew Samuel on Thursday in connection with the sting operation.
Samuel had left for Delhi after being interrogated for around four hours.
He was also interrogated on Wednesday and the CBI officers felt the necessity to continue questioning him on Thursday as well. So he had been summoned again.
The investigating officers took his statement to ascertain whether he had actually visited the places he had mentioned earlier for the sting operation. He was asked to give detailed descriptions of the places where he had gone. He was also asked to narrate as to how he reached those places.
It may be mentioned that the CBI had directed Samuel not to leave Kolkata for the next five days as they would be reconstructing the entire incident. Senior CBI officers too went to Delhi on Thursday to meet the top brass of the investigating agency there. It is learnt that a meeting has been convened to discuss certain issues related to the sting operation. Since there is no such possibility of further questioning or reconstruction as the senior officers are in Delhi, Samuel too left the city.
It is learnt that Samuel will be asked to turn up at their offices once the CBI officers return completing discussions with their seniors in Delhi. The CBI would seek support of Kolkata Police to undertake the reconstruction of the incident.
There will also be discussions on the probe that the CBI had initiated in connection with the chit fund scams.
