Calcutta Univ holds meet on evaluation of answer scripts plan

Kolkata: Calcutta University affiliated colleges may ask its teachers to come up in their respective colleges for evaluation of answer scripts of the undergraduate students to fast track the process considering the connectivity issue that the teachers may face in their respective residences. Some college principals have also proposed change in the question pattern with emphasis on short answer type questions to avoid voluminous answer

scripts.

CU Vice-Chancellor Sonali Chakravarti Banerjee along with senior officials associated with academics chaired a virtual meeting with principals of its 150 affiliated colleges on evaluation of final semester answer scripts. on Wednesday. The university has decided to hold final semester examinations for both undergraduate

and post graduate in online mode and completion of answer scripts by the respective colleges between October 1 and 18 so that results can be brought out on October 31.

"We have received a number of suggestions from the college principals on the modalities of conducting examinations smoothly," said Banerjee.

"Once we receive the question paper from the varsity we will upload the same in our own website as well as sent them to the e mail of the students. There will be separate e mails for each subject and the students will also revert back in the same e mail," said Indranil Kar, Principal of Surendranath College.

A college principal pointed out that teachers will be provided with desktops of laptops with high quality internet connectivity in colleges for evaluation of answer scripts considering that it is impossible to carry out evaluation in smartphones.
