Cable operator found dead with injury marks on body
Kolkata: Tension prevailed at Katwa in East Burdwan after a local cable operator identified as Subhasish Mukherjee was found dead in an irrigation canal.
Mukherjee was 42-year-old. According to locals, some residents of Musthuli village in Katwa saw a man lying unconscious in an irrigation canal in the village.
Some of them identified Mukherjee and found that he was dead.
Immediately the police was informed. Later, cops recovered the body and sent it for autopsy examination. A bicycle and a bag were found from the spot near Mukherjee's body. The spot is almost 6 km away from his home.
Mukherjee's family was informed by the local residents.
Sleuths came to know that Mukherjee was a local cable operator. He went out of his home on Thursday evening and was missing since then.
During primary investigation multiple injury marks were spotted on Mukherjee's face and body. It is suspected that he might have been hit by a speeding car and due to the impact of the accident he went over the culvert and fell into the irrigation canal.
Sleuths are also probing about if he had any business rivalry with anyone. His family members were not able say anything about his past rivalries. An unnatural death case has been initiated. If any foul play is detected, a FIR will be lodged according to the provisions of the law.
