Cabinet lauds grand success of BGBS, congratulates CM

Kolkata: The Cabinet on Thursday congratulated Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the success in the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS).
A resolution has been passed during the Cabinet meeting at Nabanna on Thursday. It is learnt that the Chief Minister has in turn congratulated each and everyone and has appreciated the present situation of the state.
It may be mentioned that investment proposals worth Rs 2.19 lakh crore has come in the fourth edition of the BGBS in which representatives from 30 countries were present.
The Chief Minister had expressed her satisfaction over the investment proposal and she said it is good that businessmen from India and abroad have shown a keen interest in Bengal.
It may be recalled that in June 28 in 2017, the Cabinet had congratulated the Chief Minister for the success of Kanyashree Scheme that won the first prize in the United Nations (UN) Public Service Award for the Asia Pacific at The Hague. She was congratulated in the first Cabinet meeting after she returned from The Netherlands.
Partha Chatterjee, the state Education minister, said at the state Secretariat that it has also been decided to give 5.52 acres of land to Calcutta University and 5 acres to Jadavpur University.
The land will be given to both the universities at New Town against a payment of Re 1 every year.
He further said that the Chief Minister also aims to set up an educational hub in New Town and already many private universities are having lands there. So the decision to give land to the universities in New Town is a step ahead towards setting up an education hub there.
Chatterjee further stated that the Budget Session of the state Assembly is going to start from January 30. The all-party meeting will be held on January 27.
