Burnpur Airport to be operational soon
Kolkata: Burnpur Airport will be made operational soon and the first flight will be to Guwahati via Bagdogra, said the state Law minister Malay Ghatak.
He was speaking at the MCCI Durgapur–Asansol–Raniganj Forum 2020 titled 'Driving Growth to the Next Level', organised by Merchants' Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Asansol on Monday.
Besides Ghatak, MLA and Chairman of Asansol Durgapur Development Authority Tapas Banerjee was also present during the programme.
Ghatak said that Bengal is in such a location that it easily attracts domestic and foreign investment. This comes at a time when the state has topped the list in terms of business reforms and skill development. Most importantly, 67% of the population is in the working age.
Banerjee stated that ADDA has simplified various processes, so that traders can easily complete all sort of paperwork needed for investment. He further stated that all sorts of support will be given to ensure investment in the state as it helps in creating job opportunities.
It has also been stated that besides iron, steel and coal industry, there was also discussion in the summit on industries including IT and Agro-based ones.
This comes at a time when the state government has
taken several steps to ensure creation of necessary infrastructure which would help in attracting more investment to the state.
