Body of woman found in Kandi playground

Mystery shrouds the death of an unidentified woman whose body was found in a playground of Lahapara at Kandi in Murshidabad on Friday morning.Police said that some local people were passing through the area when they found the body and informed the police.

Police went to the spot and sent the body for an autopsy. After preliminary investigation, the police suspect that the woman was raped and then strangulated to death.

There were injury marks all over her body which suggest that she had given a fight against the miscreants. Police are sure that she was killed elsewhere and later dumped in the play ground at the dead of the night.

They initiated a case in this connection and are trying to ascertain the identity of the victim. A police officer said that they had contacted all the local police stations to know that whether any missing complaint of any woman was lodged.

A police officer said that they found a pair of gent's shoes in the area that the police are suspecting to be of any one of the victims. The police confirmed that there was more than one person behind the crime and there has to be some local person involved.

The police have also spoken to the people who own some shops at a stone's throw distance from the spot where the body was found. But they failed to provide any clue.

One of them just told the police that he had heard the sound of a motorised van passing by the area in the wee hours.

The van had stopped for a few seconds and then again started moving. Thus the police suspect that the body was brought in the same motorised van and the accused fled in the same van after dumping the body in the playground.
