Body of cab driver found near Science city
Kolkata: A cab driver was killed late on Sunday night at Arupota near Science City. On Monday morning around 11 pm, locals noticed an abandoned car near a marble shop.
When some locals went to investigate, they saw a person's body was lying in the bush, a few meters from the car.
According to the sources, locals informed the Pragati Maidan police station. Within a few minutes, police arrived and started with their investigation. During the preliminary probe, the sleuths noticed there are multiple injuries on the body.
More than one injury could be traced on the back of
the head.
Though the sleuths have found all the valuables of the deceased intact but could not find his mobile phone. To identify the deceased, the sleuths found out the owner's phone number from the motor vehicles database and came to know the deceased's name — Imran Khan (32), a resident of Sir Syed Amed Road of Beniapukur.
Police also came to know that some passengers boarded the cab from Sealdah. He called up one of his family members around 2 am on Sunday night and informed them he is taking some passengers to their respective destinations.
On seeing the nature of the crime, the sleuths more or less sure became sure that Khan was killed over some personal grudge as no valuable things were missing other than the mobile phone.
It is suspected that more than one person might have connections with the murder. They took away the mobile phone to keep their details secret. Question arose on whether the passengers were known to Khan or the passengers killed him for some other reasons. Later, forensic experts and team from homicide section investigated the spot. According to the forensic experts, they have found blood stains inside the car. On seeing the injury on Khan's head, it is assumed that some blunt instrument was used to hit him.
