Bodies of three persons found hanging in Salt Lake & New Town
Kolkata: Tension was sparked in the area after the body of a person was found hanging inside an under-construction building located near Nawabpur in New Town on Monday night.
It was initially suspected that the person, who was later identified as Kuntal Ghosh (36), had been murdered. But after preliminary investigation, sleuths suspect that Ghosh had committed suicide due to unknown reasons.
According to sources, on Monday night at around 7.30 pm, locals felt a foul smell coming from the under-construction building near Nawabpur. When some of them went to look into the matter, they saw Ghosh's body hanging from the ceiling in a decomposed state. Immediately, the New Town police station was informed. Later, police recovered the body and sent it for autopsy examination.
After his identity was established, Ghosh's family members were informed. Sources have claimed that he used to stay at his in-laws' house located at Tiljala area under Kasba police station's jurisdiction, with his wife and 8-year-old daughter.
He used to work as a non-teaching staff in a private university located in New Town. Later, he had started a business.
Though it has not been confirmed, sleuths suspect that Ghosh might have been depressed due to some family dispute. Police are waiting for the autopsy report to
determine the exact cause of death.
Apart from New Town, a student of National Institute of Homeopathy located at Salt Lake was found hanging inside a bathroom of a Paying Guest (PG) facility where she used to stay. The deceased, identified as Lisha Lisham (22), was from Manipur.
Sources have informed that she was suffering from depression due to some personal reasons. Lisham was rushed to Bidhannagar Sub-Divisional Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
In another incident, on Monday at around 6.45 pm, one Loknath Pal (50) of Rabindra Nagar in South 24-Parganas was found hanging at the stair area on the 32nd floor of the DLF building, tower 5 in New Town.
He was immediately rushed to a private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Preliminary investigation has revealed that Pal used to work as help desk executive in the building and had been suffering from mental depression for the last few days.
