BJP talking about Hinduism to fill pockets, win polls: Abhishek
Tehatta: Several BJP leaders are talking about Hinduism to win the election and fill their own pockets, alleged Abhishek Banerjee, All India Trinamool Youth Congress President and
party's MP.
He was addressing a mammoth rally at Betai Maidan on Saturday afternoon. Banerjee has alleged that BJP's national president Amit Shah and UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath have ruined the concept of Hinduism by spreading hatred and intolerance throughout
the country.
They have destroyed the social harmony and incited hate amongst people of different communities.
"These leaders (Shah and Adityanath) have destroyed our social fabric. They have incited one community against the other. This is not Hinduism. The basis of Hindu philosophy is tolerance and universal acceptance. We believe in the Hinduism spread by Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda." Coming down heavily upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said the PM criticises those who sell Chinese lamps
before Diwali and tagged them as anti-nationals.
"However, he has imported bronze from China to set up the Statue of Unity. He has spent around Rs 3,000 crore for the statue, around Rs 5,270 crore to give advertisements on his favoured media outlets and another Rs 2,000 crore on his foreign tours in the past four years but has not spent money to set up rural roads or help girls to become self-reliant
in life."
He added that as 2019 Lok Sabha polls is drawing closer, the Centre is reducing the GST rates and the fuel prices.
"This is a cheap election stunt. But people seem to have understood their game plan."
Drawing a parallel between Modi and Mamata Banerjee, he said: "Our Chief Minister has kept her words and commitment. Rural electrification in nearly complete and people in almost every block are getting drinking water. The unwilling farmers have got back their lands in Singur and paddy cultivation has started there."
He maintained that the rally at Brigade Parade ground on January 19, 2019, is going to be very significant as national leaders opposing the BJP will come together and strengthen the hands of Mamata Banerje. "National leaders such as Yashvant Sinha, Shatrughan Sinha, Arvind Kejriwal, MK Stalin, Akilesh Yadav will come to the rally to take a pledge to oust the anti-people and communal BJP," he said.
Banerjee urged people and the party workers to attend the rally on January 19.
"It is a historic rally and we should all work hard to oust the BJP from the Centre and set up a non-communal development oriented government."
