BJP nominates bypoll candidates

Kolkata: BJP leader Joy Prakash Mazumdar will contest from the Karimpur Assembly seat, where by-election will be held on November 25.

The by-election became necessary following the death of Congress MLA from Kaliagunj (SC) seat Pramatha Nath Roy, while two MLAs from Karimpur and Kharagpur Sadar, namely Mohua Moitra and Dilip Ghosh, became MPs. The result of the by-election will be announced on November 28.

Kamal Chandra Sarkar and Premchand Jha have been nominated for the Kaliagunj and Kharagpur Sadar seats respectively.

Congress is contesting the election with CPI(M) support in Kharagpur and Kaliagunj, while in Karimpur, the party had fielded Golam Rabbi as its candidate.
