BJP leader Shamik Bhattacharya fails to turn up at CID office

BJP leader Shamik Bhattacharya didn't turn up at the office of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Bhawani Bhavan on Friday. He was summoned in connection with the alleged corruption related to Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. It is learnt that he informed the CID officers about his inability to turn up at their office on Friday. But he ensured co-operation with the investigating agency to probe into the incident. He would visit the office of the CID on Monday. A probe had been initiated in this connection with Basirhat police station on June 6. CID had later taken up the case and initiated a probe. Names of two more – Ranjit Pal and Bikash Singh – had cropped up in this connection. It has been alleged that money was taken from people after assuring help to get benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
