BJP leader gets 1 yr prison term for assaulting police officer

Kolkata: BJP leader Rakesh Singh has been awarded one year imprisonment and fine worth Rs 1,000 on Friday, by the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata.

According to police, on February 19, 2015, Singh had assaulted a police personnel who was the investigating officer of another case against him.

Singh had also snatched away the file which the police official was carrying and had subsequently torn it inside the court compound.

Later, a case again Singh was initiated at Hare Street police station on charges of assault, use of criminal force to deter public servant from discharging his duties and criminal intimidation.
