Bikram's judicial custody extended

Judicial custody of actor Bikram Chatterjee has been extended till July 28 after being produced before the Alipore court on Monday.
Bikram was arrested from near Acropolis Mall on Rashbehari Avenue Connector in connection with the death of model Sonika Chauhan on July 7. He was remanded to the custody of police for the initial four days after his arrest and then he was sent to judicial custody till July 24. The defence counsel didn't plead for Bikram's bail before the court on Monday. The reason being they had already pleaded for bail before the Alipore Sessions Court on July 17 and the hearing in this connection is on July 26. The city police had taken Bikram to the spots after getting him in their custody. The investigation had also revealed that Bikram had taken alcohol before driving his car. This had come after the actor had claimed in a press conference that he was not at all in an inebriated state while driving. He had later changed his version saying that he was in his senses despite taking alcohol.
