Bidhannagar police arrest two for roughing up cops

Bidhannagar City Police arrested two persons on the charge of beating on-duty policemen. The accused allegedly thrashed two-three policemen when they tried to stop them playing loudspeaker.
Soon after the incident in February, the accused had escaped from the locality and they had been absconding for a month.
On Monday, city police arrested the two persons who allegedly beat up the policemen that day.
According to a police source, some local residents in New Town called at the police station complaining that a Saraswati Puja organiser was playing loudspeaker without caring about the sound limit and time.
A police patrolling jeep reached the area to inspect the situation. The policemen asked those puja organisers to stop the loudspeaker immediately.
The organizers allegedly paid no heed to those policemen and continued to play the loud speaker.
The accused attacked the policemen suddenly and hurt them but later escaped from the spot.
A police source said that the prime accused, Mintu Haldar has been arrested. One of his associates Ashit Samaddhar has been arrested too. Investigators are looking for another accused.
The police source also said that the other accused would soon be caught.
The investigators have learnt that a local councillor might be involved in the case.
