Bidhannagar MMiC resigns

Kolkata: Prosenjit Sardar, Member, Mayor-in-Council for Sports and Youth Services of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC), resigned on Monday afternoon.

He sent his resignation letter to Krishna Chakraborty, chairperson of BMC. A copy of the letter was sent to the Municipal Commissioner Pritha Sarkar.

Sardar is believed to be a close aide of Sabyasachi Dutta, former Mayor of BMC, who resigned last week.

Trouble had cropped up in BMC after 35 councillors wrote a letter to the chairperson, expressing no-confidence against Dutta. Challenging the no-confidence motion which BMC brought against him, Dutta moved the High Court.

Sardar will carry on as the councillor of ward 27.
