Bidhannagar Mayor launches pre-Puja fair at Swapno Bhor

Kolkata: Sabyasachi Dutta, Mayor of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and MLA Rajarhat, New Town, inaugurated a five-day pre-Puja fair at Swapno Bhor on Saturday.

The fair has been organised by the Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) along with senior citizens.

Thirty stalls selling sarees, food items, books, handicrafts etc have been set up. The fair was tagged with the International Day of Older Persons that falls on October 1. It will be jointly hosted by the HIDCO and the Department of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare. The fair is a one-of-its-kind in the state. Shashi Panja,

Minister of State for Women and Child Development and Social Welfare, will be present at the fair on October 1. The fair will remain open from 12 noon till 8 pm.

New Town has the state's only senior citizen's park called Swapno Bhor. Senior citizens from outside New Town will take part in the fair as well. There is a two-storeyed building inside Swapno Bhor that houses a library, an office, two banquet halls and a coffee shop. There is an auditorium on the first floor as well. Throughout the year, senior citizens take part in cultural activities.
