Bengal school, college students to get 5,000 tickets

The state government will distribute 5,000 tickets among school and college students to watch the Under-17 World Cup matches scheduled to be held here in October.
A high-level meeting was held in Nabanna in which the state Youth Services and Sports minister Aroop Biswas and Chief Secretary Malay De were present.
Besides FIFA representatives, senior officers from different departments including Information and Cultural Affairs, Transport, Industries, Tourism, Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation and Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate were also present. Representatives of the Bengal Olympic Association were also present in the meeting.
According to a senior official, 5,000 tickets will be distributed among the school and college students of the state. A competition will be held in which the students will participate and the winners of the competition will be getting the complementary tickets.
The World Cup trophy will be brought to the city and will be kept here for display on September 30, 31 and October 1. The places where the trophy will be displayed are yet to be decided. But there are chances of displaying the same at Yuva Bharati Kirangan and Netaji Indoor Stadium. Senior officers of all the departments have presented their detailed plan before the Chief Secretary and the FIFA representatives. The Chief Secretary has directed to implement the plans in order to conduct the tournament properly. It is learnt that the FIFA representatives have expressed their satisfaction over the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Kirangan at Salt Lake. The security aspect has also been discussed in the meeting. Concerned officers have elaborated their plans to ensure security of both players and spectators.
