Bengal received benefits of many Central schemes: Irani

The Bengal government has received the benefits of many Central schemes, Union Textile minister Smriti Irani said in the city on Wednesday.

She alleged that the state government had not informed people about the various schemes provided by the Centre. "The benefits which people are getting are all schemes of the Centre," she said. She urged party workers to go to the people and inform them about the schemes. She held a meeting with party

workers on Wednesday morning. She urged them to go to the people and strengthen the organisational base of the party.

It may be mentioned that around 20 BJP leaders have visited Bengal in the past 10 days. Each and every leader has asked the state unit to strengthen the organisational base of the party. The state unit had miserably failed to organise party workers in the past two years. The party could not meet those who took membership by sending SMS two years ago.

However, steps have now been taken to organiSe party meeting up to the block level as the party is gearing for the panchayat election scheduled to be held in 2018. The recent success of the party in Kanthi south by-election has given moral boost to party leaders and workers.

Irani said the state government had failed to stop atrocities against women which was on the rise.
