Bengal Govt to open 10 more blood banks, 21 more component units

Kolkata: The West Bengal Government is to open ten more blood banks in the state in 2018.
With these, the total number in the state will increase to 84.
Not just that, with the increasing demand for blood components, the government is setting up blood component separation units (BCSU) in 21 existing blood banks.
The work for these would be over before the panchayat elections. With these 21, the number of BCSUs would increase to 38.
The above information came from a senior official of the State Health Department.
The new blood banks would be located in Birpara, Tehatta, Dinhata, Nandigram, Metiabruz, Salboni, Debra, Mathabhanga, Falakata and Sagardighi.
The new BCSU would be set up in the blood banks located in Chinsurah, Howrah, Bishnupur, Purulia, Darjeeling, Siliguri, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Raiganj, Balurghat, Barasat, Basirhat, Diamond Harbour, Siuri, Rampurhat, Jhargram and Tamluk.
