Bengal Budget to come a day ahead of Central counterpart

Kolkata: The state Budget will be presented a day ahead of the Union Budget. Sources in the state Legislative Assembly said that state Finance and Industry minister Amit Mitra will present the state Budget on January 31 at around 3 pm.
It may be mentioned that this is perhaps for the first time when the state Budget will be presented a day ahead of the Union Budget. The Union Budget will be presented on February 1.
A meeting of the Business Advisory (BA) Committee will be convened on Saturday, under the chairmanship of Speaker Biman Banerjee, to finally decide the schedule. It may be mentioned that the BA Committee, which met on Thursday afternoon, had earlier decided that the state Budget will be presented on February 1.
"The state Budget will be presented on January 31 in the second half and the first half will conclude after the obituary," a source in the Assembly said. The Budget session of the Assembly will begin on January 30, with the Governor's speech on the same day.
It may be mentioned that the Budget session of the state Assembly, which is scheduled to be held till February 8, will have discussions on the Governor's speech and then on the state Budget.
