Beliaghata student death: Police recover suicide note
Kolkata: Police recovered a suicide note from inside a diary of the college student found dead in Beliaghata on Sunday. Sources informed that the student, identified as Ashutosh Mondal (18) had committed suicide due to depression.
According to sources, on Sunday at around 4 pm, locals heard a loud noise and rushed to the spot, where they saw Mondal's body hanging from the iron rods of the gate.
The locals removed his body from the gate and rushed him to NRS Medical College and Hospital, where Mondal succumbed to his injuries. He was a student of a well-known college in the city and had come here to study from Mallarpur in Birbhum. He was staying with his mother and grandmother, as his father serves in paramilitary forces.
On Monday, police searched his room and found a piece of paper from inside one of his diaries. In the paper it was written: "humans are nothing but selfish creatures."
Later, after questioning his family members, sleuths suspect that Mondal had a wish to continue his higher studies, staying in Birbhum. He also wanted to carry on with his studies along with his best friend, who lives there. He might have been going through depression due to the issue.
Sleuths are also mulling to check if Mondal was bullied or ragged by his classmates or any other person in the college. It is also suspected that as Mondal had come from a rural area, he might have been struggling to acclimatise with the lifestyle of the city.
