Behala youth found dead near railway tracks at Contai

Kolkata: The body of a youth from Behala was found in a mysterious condition beside railway tracks at Contai in East Midnapore.

Police said the victim Rahul Shaw (19) was a resident of Behala.

The investigating officers came to know from his family members that he had left his home in December to join a a private company in Bolpur.

He always used to be in touch with his family members back in Kolkata over phone. It was on April 5 since when his family members lost contact with him.

They received a call from one of his friends. He told his family members that the victim had somehow lost his mobile phone so they have to call on his cell phone if they had to speak to Rahul.

On April 6, his family members were told that he was no more working at Bolpur and had shifted to Rampurhat. So, it was not possible to give the phone to Rahul to speak to his family members.

Again on April 8, when the victim's family members called on his friend's mobile phone to speak to him, they were told that Rahul had left for Kolkata.

His family members initiated a search for Rahul as he didn't return on the next day.

They lodged a complaint with the police and also went to Rampurhat. It was on Tuesday when they received a call from the police who asked them to identify the body of Rahul from a photograph.

In the photograph, the body was found lying beside the railway tracks. They came to know that the body was found beside railway tracks near Contai.

Police came to know that there was a leave application found in his pocket and the police are trying to ascertain that why he had written the application. The victim's family members alleged that he was purposely thrown off a train.
