Bankura youth found hanging in Rourkela

Kolkata: Mystery shrouds the death of a 23-year-old youth from Bankura whose body was found in an under-construction building at Rourkela in Odisha, where he had gone to work a few months ago.
Police said that the victim, Shyamal Mondal, was a resident of Barjora in Bankura and a few months ago, he had gone to Rourkela to work as a mason in an under-construction housing project.
On Monday night, some other workers had informed the police that they found Shyamal hanging from the ceiling of a room. Police went to the spot and sent the body for an autopsy. They informed the victim's family members of the incident and asked them to go to Rourkela.
According to the victim's family members, they didn't find anything suspicious when they spoke to him over phone just a couple of days ago. His family members claimed that Shyamal had not committed suicide. They claimed that he has been killed by someone and hanged to distract the police.
Demanding a proper probe into the incident, the victim's family members said that a rivalry might have developed between Shyamal and someone in Odisha, which resulted in his death.
It has been learnt that the police collected samples from the spot and also spoke to other people who stay there. Police wanted to know whether the victim had any difference in opinion or quarrel with anyone in the recent past.
Police also spoke to the employer of the victim and asked whether he had asked for any extra money recently. They are also going through the call details of the victim's cell phone.
