'Balurghat has enormous film-making prospect'

Balurghat: District police chief Prasun Banerjee released his second film Men Will Be Men at Satyajit Mancha in Balurghat on Friday evening. The cast of the film, includes director Subrata Sen, folk artist Soumitra Roy and actors — Doyel Chakraborty and Aarka Pravo Ghosh.

Banerjee said the film was entirely shot in Balurghat. Bengali film industry is based in Kolkata and Balurghat, which is a city of theatre, has rich cultural heritage and enormous prospect of independent film making, Banerjee further said.

Apart from being an IPS (Indian Police Service) officer, at present posted in South Dinajpur, Banerjee, who has director the film Men Will Be Men, is a writer, motivational speaker, theatre artist, independent film-maker, freelance photographer, analyst on legal and socio-legal issues and member of the advisory committee of the department of film and media studies in Raiganj University. Banerjee had previously directed another film Cool Yaar, which was released in Balurghat in 2018.

"My cinemas involve life stories from my own experiences, the experiments I have done in life, and observations made from seeing, touching, smelling and feeling things. All moments of love, passion and sense and sensualities, are converted into a story which I narrate, depict and portray on celluloid. As it is said that at the end of the day, a film is nothing but a story well told," said District Police Chief Prasun Banerjee.
