Baghel invites Mamata to Kumbh Mela
Kolkata: Uttar Pradesh minister S P Singh Baghel has invited Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to visit Kumbh Mela.
He has also invited Governor K N Tripathi and former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly to visit the world's biggest congregation.
Kumbh Mela will be starting in Allahabad from January 15 and will continue till March 4. Devotees from all over the country and thousands of people from different parts of the globe will visit Allahabad to take a holy dip in river Ganga.
The highest number of people is expected to take the holy dip on January 21, on the day of full moon known as Poush Purnima.
Mamata Banerjee had criticised the Centre for not providing any fund for Gangasagar Mela, where lakhs of people from across the globe will take part.
She said that the state government had agreed to give 74% share to the Centre to set up Tajpur Port. But the Centre has not responded in the past four years regarding the same.
