Bagdogra Airport gets separate exit lanes for private, commercial vehicles

Kolkata: In a bid to ensure smooth movement of vehicles entering the Bagdogra Airport, separate lanes for exit of private and commercial vehicles have been brought into place.

Besides commercial vehicles, several private vehicles enter the airport to drop near and dear ones, who are suppose to take flights.

Such cars enter the airport and leaves within a few minutes soon after dropping

the person. The private vehicles were facing trouble as it had a common exit with the commercial vehicles. Since commercial vehicles need to pay a fee for entering the premises, they slow down near the exit, as a result of which, private vehicles also get caught in the congestion.

With a separate lane for exit of private vehicles, there will be no more congestion and those can easily move out of the airport soon after dropping the person concerned.

The authorities have taken the step after receiving complaints alleging that drivers and owners of private vehicles face unnecessary harassment.
