Bagdogra Air Force Station kicks off 'Freedom Adventure Carnival'

SILIGURI: To mark the nation's 72nd Independence Day, Air Force Station Bagdogra, under the aegis of Eastern Air Command, has kicked off a series of events from August 9 to August 15, 2018.

Santosh Chaudhary, the president of the Air Force Wives' Welfare Association at the Indian Air Force Station, inaugurated the 'Freedom Adventure Carnival' at the newly developed Eastern Air Command Nodal Centre's Adventure Park in Bagdogra.

The world's largest adventure park has attractions like power hang-gliding, parasailing, rappelling, para-motoring, rock climbing and many others, for a total of 62 different types of land, air and water adventure activities.

During the carnival, students aged above 12 years from the Air Force School, Bagdogra, are to be given a basic theory and practical training in disaster management and rescue drills. They are also being exposed to adventure sports at the park.

"It was an exciting experiment with a bit of fear that I faced at the starting point but was left with amazement," said Payel Seal, a student of class 12 in Air Force School, Bagdogra who had participated in skydiving along with many others.

The Air Force Station has also lined up a static display with the name "Know Your Forces" for schools and college students and for the general public from 10 am to 5 pm on August 11 and 12.

"The outcome of the carnival is an achievement to us as the reviews from the participants of the different adventure sports in the adventure park are optimistic in nature. We are giving full security to the participants and are helping people to be aware of the Indian Forces," said Jaipal Singh Chauhan, a top official of the adventure park.
