As many as three TMC workers killed
Kolkata: Three TMC and one SUCI worker were killed in three separate incidents in Bengal on Saturday.
One TMC and another SUCI worker were killed in an incident in Kultuli in South 24-Parganas. The deceased were identified as Aswini Manna, a TMC Youth Congress member and Sudhangshu Manna,a SUCI supporter. Police have started investigation and a picket has been posted in the area.
The trouble began on Friday night when some TMC workers led by Aswini Manna raided the houses of some SUCI supporters. Ten houses were ransacked and some SUCI workers were injured, five of them seriously who were first taken to Baruipur Sub Divisional Hospital and later sent to Kolkata after their condition deteriorated.
Later some villagers gheraoed the TMC supporters and beat Aswini to death. He was pronounced dead at a local sub divisional hospital. TMC leaders alleged that Aswini was murdered by SUCI workers.
On Saturday morning, some people raided the house of Sudhangshu Jana and beat him to death. The police is investigating whether the second incident was a fall out of the first incident or a separate incident. Local SUCI leaders alleged that in a bid to silence their supporters who had been protesting against the corruption involved in the distribution of ration to the Amphan victims Sudhangshu had been murdered. TMC leaders alleged that SUCI supporters had killed Aswini so that they could control Moipith gram panchayat.
The bodies of two TMC supporters were found in Birbhum. In Khoirasole a body of a TMC worker who was later identified as Sisir Bauri (45) was found lying on the road on Saturday morning. It was later sent for post mortem. TMC leaders alleged that BJP workers had killed Sisir, an active party worker in the area.
In another incident the body of a TMC worker with throat slit was recovered from a paddy field early on Saturday morning. The body has been sent for post mortem.
