Application forms with PM's photo distributed among farmers
Kolkata: Controversy was sparked with application
forms distributed among farmers for crop insurance, containing photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, when the state government is bearing 60 percent expense of the project to extend support to farmers.
It has come to notice that application forms distributed among farmers are containing photographs of the Prime Minister. This comes at the time when the shares of the Centre and the state government are at the ratio of 40 and 60 percent of the total amount needed to extend support to farmers.
The Mamata Banerjee government has been repeatedly attacking the Centre for reducing funds for various projects. It may be mentioned that despite reduction in funds by the Centre for different projects, the state government is leaving no stones unturned to continue the schemes for the benefit of common people.
It may be mentioned that the state government has taken several steps in the past seven years that have ensured a vast improvement in the agriculture sector in the state.
In another development that recently came to light, Central government officials are visiting households for campaigning in favour of the Modi government, in lieu of inspecting implementation of the Swachh Bharat Project.
According to the sources, some people are visiting households in different parts of the state and they are introducing themselves as Central government officials. They are telling people that they are visiting the household to carry out an inspection of toilets that were set up under the project.
"In the name of inspection, they are actually campaigning to gain the confidence of people," sources said, adding that the inspection can be carried out by a state government agency and a report in this connection can be sent to the Centre.
