Applicants of Institute of Post Graduate Ayurvedic Education and Research in a fix

Kolkata: The post graduate aspirants who are willing to pursue their Ayurvedic courses at Institute of Post Graduate Ayurvedic Education and Research in Shyamadas Vaidya Shastra on Acharya Prafulla Chandra Road are confused as the counselling has not started even after last date of admission was over.
It was learnt that there are around 10 post graduate seats in the institution. This year the last date of admission was fixed on October 31 but later extended up to November 8. With two days left to complete the procedure of admission, the students are in a fix what to do as their counselling has not started yet.
Some have, however, alleged that the institution did not get clearance from the Central Council of Indian Medicine, a statutory body under Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It was alleged that the institution is yet to receive permission for the admission as it lacked adequate infrastructure.
A senior official who did not want to be named rejected the allegation of permission from the central statutory body and also added that the whole process of admission would be completed within stipulated time.
It may be mentioned that entrance examination for the post graduate Ayurvedic studies was done on the
national basis.
A post graduate medical aspirant said that in case of other states, the counselling process is already completed while some others have done the admission process.
He asked why this institution was delaying the process of admission if there was no legal tangle in it. The number of seats has been too few in the post graduate Ayurvedic courses.
If these seats were not filled up in stipulated time, the Ayurvedic aspirants would be deprived.
