App-cab driver threatens to share obscene pictures of youth, arrested
Kolkata: An app cab driver has been arrested for allegedly extorting money from a youth by issuing threats to share his naked pictures on social media.
According to police, on August 7, the victim approached Gariahat police station and stated that a person whom he met at a guest house took his debit card and forced him to disclose the pin number. Later, the accused withdrew Rs 30,000 from his account.
A source said the victim, an employee of a private company, got in touch with the accused person on Grindr, an online dating application for homosexuals, bisexuals, transgenders and queer.
After chatting for a few days, they had exchanged their mobile numbers and started talking. After interacting for few months, the accused person had asked the youth to meet him. After the victim youth agreed, accused person asked him to come to a guest house in Karaya area.
After reaching the guest house, which was decided by the accused, they agreed to get into a physical relationship. The victim said he was forced to get naked and the accused person clicked several pictures of him. Later, he said he was forced to give his debit card and disclose the PIN number as the accused threatened him to circulate his pictures on social media.
After getting the complaint, the police tried to trace the mobile tower location of the accused person. But as his mobile phone was switched off police failed to trace the accused person. On Thursday, the mobile number was located in Tiljala area. Police immediately rushed to Shibtala Lane in Tiljala and arrested the accused person. He will be produced at the Bankshall Court on Friday with an appeal for his Test Identification (TI) parade.
