5,000 police personnel deployed in city

Kolkata: Kolkata and Bidhannagar Police have made an elaborate security management for Dol Yatra and Holi. Special importance will be given to the crowded areas. Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, Anuj Sharma has instructed all police stations to keep strict vigil in their respective areas to control unruly persons or mob. Also, Bidhannagar police officers have said stringent action would be taken against those found putting colours on animals.

About 5,000 police personnel will be deployed on Thursday and Friday across the city, including women police personnel. Apart from police patrolling, 709 police pickets have been set up for the two consecutive days. All deputy commissioner of police and assistant commissioner of police of Kolkata Police have been asked to be on roads throughout the day to supervise the security arrangement.

Multiple mobile patrolling vans in each division will be patrolling the city round the clock. Also, several Quick Response Team and Heavy Radio Flying Squad vans will be posted on the strategic points.

Senior officials of Kolkata Police said if they received complaints regarding any person throwing colour balloons from rooftops and throwing colours on people without consent, police would take stringent action. Bidhannagar Police have made arrangements for tight security in its area. According to senior police officials around 2000 police personnel will be deployed. Special focus will be given to Lake Town, Bangur and its adjacent areas.
