50 passengers injured after 2 buses collide head-on

Kolkata: At least 50 persons were injured after two buses collided head-on near Ramnagar in East Midnapore early on Friday morning. It was alleged that one of the bus drivers was driving in a

drunken condition.

According to the injured persons, a bus with tourists was headed towards Digha from Jhargram. Another bus of Digha-Howrah route was coming from Digha.

At Fatehpur in Ramnagar, the Digha-bound bus went on to the wrong flank of the road and collided head-on with the other bus.

Close to the accident spot, there is a fire station located. The on-duty fire fighters from there heard a huge thud and went to find

the reason.

When they reached the accident spot, they saw passengers were injured and crying for rescue.

With the help from locals, fire fighters started rescuing passengers from the buses. Later, police joined the rescue operation.

All the injured persons were rushed to Kanthi Sub-Divisional Hospital. Around nine persons have been shifted to a Kolkata hospital as their condition

are critical.

The passengers of the Digha-bound bus alleged that the driver was drunk and rash driving. Despite warning him, the driver did not bother.

He was also wearing a headphone and listening to songs while driving.
