34-year-old youth found dead in Joynagar
Kolkata: A youth from Mukundapur was found dead at Joynagar in South 24-Parganas on February 10, just a few days before his marriage. The deceased was identified as Amit Ghosh (34) who came from a business family. On Thursday, his father Swapan, lodged a complaint with the Baruipur Government Railway Police (GRP), alleging that his son has been murdered.
According to sources, Amit went to his room after dinner on February 9 night. On February 10 morning, his mother Chhabi found his room empty and his bike missing from the garage. She immediately informed Swapan and both tried to reach out to their son on his mobile but found it switched off. While checking the CCTV footage at their souse, it was found that Amit was talking on his mobile phone in a tensed manner. He turned off the CCTV cameras at around 2:38 am. On the same day, Swapan was informed by Baruipur GRP that his son's body had been recovered. His bike was found from Jadavpur Jheel Par area. According to police sources, it is suspected that Amit was going somewhere on the train. Questions arose as to why he had to turn off the CCTV camera and go out with his bike. Also, why he had parked his vehicle there and boarded a train.
On Thursday, Swapan lodged a complaint alleging that his son had been murdered. During the investigation, police have not found any clues which can substantiate the FIR. The Superintendent of Railway Police (SRP), Sealdah, Asesh Biswas said: "Probe is on. Though the FIR has been drawn under Section 302 IPC (murder) as per the complaint, till now we do not have any information or clue that the youth was murdered." Sleuths are checking his mobile phone call records as the device is still missing. His former fiance and friends are also being questioned.
