3-member committee set up to probe if hotel's papers are in order

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has set up a three-member committee to examine whether the hotel had all necessary papers or not.

Hotel Golden Parkk might have to face closure if all its documents are not in order. At the same time, steps will be taken to check whether any of the hotels in the city are having similar lapses in fire-fighting arrangements. This comes after two persons died in a fire incident at Hotel Golden Parkk on Thursday. KMC building department experts also visited the site to assess the damage and find out which portion of the interior could be preserved. At the same time, the civic body will also take stocks on the fire-fighting arrangements in city hotels.

The fire and emergency service department officials would take strict action if lapses are found. It is learnt that the experts have been asked to frame a policy that all hotels need to follow and licenses of hotels would be cancelled if the policies are not carried out by the hotel authorities.
