2nd phase of verification begins for Upper Primary aspirants

Kolkata: The second phase of the verification of aspiring teachers at the Upper Primary level was started from Wednesday.

The School Service Commission (SSC) had earlier issued a notification, saying that second phase verification would be started on March 6. The commission had also published the link for downloading the intimation letters to the candidates.

Following the publication of the notification, many aspiring candidates had alleged that they did not get a call despite securing good marks. While some others alleged that there were some discrepancies in the verification result.

The SSC authorities, however, mentioned that the matter would be looked into if someone can provide supportive documents to prove their claim.

Meanwhile, candidates seeking jobs as teachers in the IX-X level, said on Wednesday that they would continue their sit-in demonstration as their meeting with the state Education minister Partha Chatterjee has failed to solve the impasse.

They said that they would continue the agitation, demanding the inter-

vention of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

As many as 400 candidates have joined a sit-in demonstration from February 28, demanding employment after updating vacancy. A few days ago, Education minister Partha Chatterjee had met the agitators and gave an appointment to discuss the issue.

The minister reportedly told the candidates that he would look into their demands. Chatterjee had also told that deserving candidates have nothing to worry about. They will be able to secure jobs if they clear the interviews.

The candidates also demanded publication of the full merit list, so that they can have an idea of their ranks.
