2 HS examinees dead in separate incidents
Kolkata: A Higher Secondary (HS) examinee died just after entering the examination hall on Tuesday, after suffering a cardiac arrest at Pingla, Kharagpur in West Midnapore. Meanwhile, in another incident, an HS examinee was killed and one injured in an accident at Jalangi in Murshidabad.
According to sources, Sangita Das, a resident of Kulahata in Pingla, had reached the examination centre at Pindurui High School half an hour before the examination. Just after entering the designated room, she fell sick. Immediately, she was taken to the headmaster's room.
A local doctor was called in, who suggested the teachers to admit her in a hospital after primary health check. Immediately, she was rushed to Midnapore Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared Das brought dead.
It was suspected that she had suffered a cardiac arrest. Later, her family members stated that Das had a cardiac problem since her age was 5 years. She had been undergoing treatment since then.
In another incident, an HS examinee was killed and another was injured after they met with an accident in Berhampore.
According to locals, two HS examinees, identified as Subrata Saha and Bittu Sharma, were going to the examination centre at Sitanagar High School on a bike at Jalangi.
Near Basudebpur, a motorvan hit the bike from behind. As a result, both Saha and Sharma fell on the road. Both of them were rushed to Domkal Sub-Divisional Hospital, where Saha was declared brought dead. Sharma was admitted at the same hospital and is still undergoing treatment.
Locals detained the motorvan driver along with the vehicle and later handed him over to police. According to sources, the driver has been arrested and the offending motorvan seized.
