2 B'deshi JMB activists held from Noida, terror strike averted in NCR
kolkata: Two Jamat-ul-Mujahideen (Bangladesh) activists were arrested from Greater Noida on Tuesday during a joint raid conducted by the Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police and Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) Uttar Pradesh.
Police have informed that both the arrested persons are Bangladeshi nationals and went to National Capital region (NCR) with a plan to carry out a major terror attack.
Acting on a tip off, police conducted a raid at their hideout and arrested the duo.
During the interrogation, police have come to know that Musharraf Hussain (19), alias Musa, alias Tezerul Islam, alias Raijul Karim and Rubail Ahmed, alias Manirul Islam came to Greater Noida a few days ago.
Both of them are the residents of the same village in Bangladesh and have illegally crossed the border to enter India. They reached Greater Noida to get a safe hideout for some days and took shelter there as they had tocarry out some preliminary tasks before carrying out the major terror attack. Sources said Kolkata Police's STF received a tip off about the duo's entry into the country and started a probe in this connection. It was learnt that the duo moved towards the northern part of the country and started maintaining vigil.
A few days ago, police came to know that they are hiding in a place in Greater Noida. A team comprising officers of the STF went to Greater Noida and conducted a joint raid with the ATS of Uttar Pradesh.
Police have also come to know that besides carrying out terror activities, they were trained in radicalising youths for joining JMB. Police in Bangladesh were also on the lookout for them, which is another crucial reason for them to enter India. They are trying to find out the people, who had helped them to cross the border and finally to reach Greater Noida.
It may be recalled that the existence of JMB activists in Bengal first came to light following an explosion at Khagragarh blast in 2014.
Subsequently, police had arrested several JMB activists and the STF of Kolkata Police maintain constant vigil to ensure that they cannot manage to create any further trouble.
