Kolkata: Chitpore police station has arrested two persons in connection with a youth, who died at R G Kar Hospital after being shot at New Barrackpore on Tuesday night.

According to the sources, a person identified as Abhijit Mullick was admitted to a private hospital near Nagerbazar with a bullet injury late on Tuesday night. Later on the wee hours of Wednesday, he was shifted to R G Kar

Hospital where doctors operated and were able to take out the bullet.

Meanwhile, Chitpore police station was informed. Upon receiving the information police detained Mullick's friend Chandan who admitted him to the hospital.

Chandan claimed that Mullick, a toto driver by profession, went to see Jagaddhatri immersion in Chandannagar with him and other friends.

While returning home, a few miscreants attacked them near Seven Tanks and shot Mullick.

The sleuths somehow were not convinced with Chandan's claims. As Mullick was not in a state to narrate the incident, police decided to check the area near Seven

Tanks.

But when police went there, they found no information on bullets being fired or a scuffle that had occurred

on Tuesday night.

Later, when Chandan was again interrogated, he broke down and informed that Mullick was a gang member along with him.

As Mullick had left the gang recently and was trying to return to normal life, they feared that they might get caught as Mullick knew all about them.

To convince Mullick for a come back to the gang, Chandan and another miscreant called him near New Barrackpore. When Mullick refused, one of them

shot Mullick.
